Bums on seats

So I was sitting at my desk at home earlier today trying to write a bunch of documentation for work. The words were probably there somewhere inside my brain but they just wouldn't come out of my fingers, so writing was like trying to squeeze blood out of a stone.

My desk chair has never been particularly good - it cost not very much a couple of years ago from IKEA, doesn't have armrests (and I'm an armrest kind of a man) and is generally irritating. The fact that the casters were designed for carpeted floors didn't help, as the new flat has wood laminate flooring which meant that the chair would skid across the floor - wheeee! - at the faintest provocation.

So in a supreme act of writer's procrastination I went out. First I went to vote (don't forget to vote, kids - unless you're going to vote for the UKIP, the BNP or the Tories, in which case please do forget to vote) and then I went to IKEA and bought the chair I've had my eye on for a while - the all-singing, all-dancing VERKSAM office chair with adjustable everything, a proper lumbar support, armrests and black goatskin upholstery.

It's really very nice, and even has casters for hard floors which mean it stays where it should be. It's also very heavy, and I don't recommend doing what I did and carting a large cardboard box weighing about 20kg and various other ancillary parts home via the Tramlink and the train. I also don't recommend doing this just at the start of the rush hour. Oh, and if anyone in south London wants a slightly used desk chair, let me know and it's yours...

But it's very nice. I could sit in this for hours. Of course, I'm now going to have to sit in it for hours in order to get all the writing done which I didn't do because I was procrastinating and buying office furniture. Still, I'm going to be up late watching election results - which will no doubt be depressing results - so there's plenty of today left.

Not to mention that, because a number of goats have already been sacrificed for your chair, your SCSI chains should now work flawlessly.

It's just logical, right?
