Jetlag without the jets

So yesterday involved spending the day at work as I was in charge of the exciting operational matter of shutting down the machine room and liaising with a group of excellently professional people who were replacing the big machine room UPS with a new, higher-rated unit so that our PS may remain as U as possible when bad stuff happens to the mains. It meant getting up at 0615 to start shutting our stuff down at 0800, but things went fairly smoothly and we were able to hand the power over to the UPS guys at 0930 and pottered about a bit while they hacksawed various pieces of 200A armoured three-phase cable and replaced one enormously heavy box with another enormously heavy box.

During this my phone rang and I was reminded that I was supposed to be going up to Leamington that evening - a grate frend from skool is getting married next weekend and I'd arranged to meet up because I'm not going to be able to attend the wedding due to attending the wedding of another grate frend (not from skool). Being not of great brain, I'd managed to forget bout this. So once the power came back and we'd finished putting 125-odd amps of load back on the new UPS I headed to Marylebone and upon arrival in Leamington just had time for a bite to eat before heading down to the pub, where there was Deuchars IPA, and after that back to the flat of another grate frend from skool to inspect his astonishing collection of spirits.

I finally got to bed at about 0145 before getting up at 0815 in order to get a ride back down to Surrey with my parents who were going that way in order to inspect their granddaughter. After an excellent lunch I headed for the train and finally got home at about 1600 - about 23 hours later than I'd originally intended when leaving the flat at 7 o'clock on Saturday morning. After a shower and a change of clothes I kind of collapsed in a heap and, I fear, slept for about three hours, so I have a horrible feeling I've given myself jetlag.

Nothing like a nice, quiet, relaxing weekend to set you up for the week ahead, eh?
